Together with our guide from @indianexcursions, we visited Amber Fort, which rests on the city's edge. Surrounded by ramparts, this marvelous fortress is perched on a hill near Maota Lake. Construction began in 1592 and carried on for over 125 years. Can you believe it??!? Although the fort is in ruins, the interior palaces, gardens, and temples retain much of their pristine beauty.

There were so many corridors and hidden exits and dead ends. They closed off nearly all the passageways because tourists and animals alike were lost.

One of our absolute favorite activities when we travel is to just walk around. Strolling through the @theoberoirajvilas is like being in a magical fairytale. Headed to the rural outskirts of Jaipur to spend time with the elephants at the @deraamercamp

These elephants were adopted from Amber Fort, where they were saved from a life of ferrying tourists up and down. These days, they are fed, bathed, walked, and generally fawned over by guests of Dera Amer. We were relieved to know that Dera Amer does not condone riding.

We were invited to help feed these magical creatures. We then took a gentle walk through the forest and spent quality time with them. It was amazing how they were able to showcase the camp without letting these animals experience cruelty.

After a magical afternoon, we were served with delicious homemade dinner using lots of fresh produce from their gardens.
